Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
That being said,
book - I have experienced odd smells at times where they should not be, and wondered about their significance. What you see is not necessarily all of what you get.
Have any of you ever wore a Hawaiian lei made of real plumeria? I have in Hawaii and here on island. That's what I'm smelling - plumeria. But we don't have a plumeria tree, nor rose bushes or orchids, etc... I had to close the wood door. I wonder where that floral smell is coming from?... And the thoughts (based on my native upbringing) popped into my head that I'm being visited by deceased dad... or by one of my ancient ancestors who is not happy with me for perhaps playing a terrible music loudly on the radio? (We're not suppose to play, make loud noises at nights. We are disturbing the dead.) I'm going to change the channel back to my usual talk show radio (US mainland's big coin, diving, right-left wing, etc...)
Your visits are not pointless
Unless it is a burden to you then continue as you are able
I found it very hard to stay in mom's room when she was in isolation too,
but sometimes the thought of doing something is more difficult than the actual doing
If you wear a mask 😷 can you help in the lounge ?
Your presence is required.
Imagine all of us sitting there with you, some are praying.
No actual data on this, but I feel we are present to escort the sick through their final days, an act of loving kindness if we are willing.
If you are too uncomfortable, you can decide to visit less or not stay too long without guilt.
Maybe have your sister meet you there sometimes, go to lunch after the visit?
You are a shining example of a loving daughter. We're you an endurance runner in a marathon?
So sad. You are kinda to the point of offering short periods of comfort and visiting to make sure Mom is being looked after properly?
You are a good and devoted daughter. I am sure your Mom would be very proud of you.
A while back, a woman who went to a chiropractor for a neck manipulation for a pinched nerve on her neck. She came home in a lot of pain. She suffered a stroke and she died. It seems when the chiropractor shifted her neck, it tore her left vertebral artery. Maybe having a massage is safer?
Blood flow and cause a stroke
Even with traction during PT following a car accident I would get a pain in my hip from manipulation of my neck
Chiropractor massage is good but I don't want anything cracked for fear of breaking a bone or worse
And I don't eat sushi either.
A man had a 5' tapeworm come out, he ate sushi daily, but not sure that is the kind of worm fish have, mostly in the summer. About 3 weeks ago, I think it was reported.
Golden,
I have heard that one can have a stroke being placed in the neck insert in the
sink when getting your hair washed at the hairdresser.
Also, a chiropractic adjustment can cause a stroke.
A broken neck is also very scary.
Because of these reports, I had asked my chiropractor about a stroke.
Deciding the alternative was worse: Complete bedridden immobility, causing blood clots, unable to walk or sleep without acute pain, and the necessity to take many pain meds that had adverse effects, etc.
I opted for the risks of chiropractic for myself.
I do not eat Sushi.
Hubs does not have a ganglion, but a serious joint disorder after his accident a year ago from falling off his bike. Plus arthritis.
Did you get your Sunday sushi?
And I am proud to say I am not on any meds either. Knock on wood.
You didn't dump the bucket of epsom salt on hub's head ?
Now that would be bratty
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's hand. I hope he feels better soon.
Hi cwillie,
I'm with you. I'm glad you didn't need any meds at 40. I think that's all some doctors know how to do is push meds.
When I told him what the surgeon (I had worked for) did for ganglion cysts, this doc was not impressed, said they come back.
The joint is inflamed, and after waiting too long to see the orthopedic specialist after his bike accident a year ago, (PCP refused to refer) the damage was done. Appears like bone on bone.
He also has arthritic changes to his spine.
He has not explained until now, how much he has been hurting himself with certain activities, and is off work for two weeks.
Great when things just disappear without surgery? A bone spur on my heel disappeared, once had TMJ pain in the jaw, gone! Right hip pain gone.
