Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
I have my night temperature set at 65 (yes, the thermostat is in fahrenheit). I find I'm plenty warm with just blankets once I'm sleeping, it's when I'm in bed reading than I am cold.
Oh and did I say, my COLD feet?!
I think a flame thrower and a chalk line drawn around me might work. My DH has always been an underfoot kind of man. I always knew it. Now I really know it in the most painful way.
OMG. Next time he steps on your injured foot, throw a glass of water in his face.
Or don't let him get close enough to you that he can step on your foot.
I had care clients who were known to be 'shadowers' which means they have to be so close to a person that they're breathing down your neck at all times.
I've never allowed a client to shadow me. If one would try to I would extend my arms in front of myself and tell them very emphatically, 'BACK UP!' and they always did. Try this with your husband.
Your avatar cracks me up Send :)

sendhelp has good advice!

and tell him you have a bunch of friends on the forum who’ll be really mad at him too, if he steps on you again.
I hear you.
Keep in mind, the best revenge is living well.
We can only try.
I agree.
And from experiences, I know that to be true for me as well.
Not sure it is that way for everyone. But maybe if you are the independent type, people around you have never learned to be helpful, but instead have relied on you.
If you need to keep someone away from your foot, Amazon has huge long distance water guns, both pistols and rifles.
You may have neglected other health concerns due to the pain of a broken foot.
Do what you can to best take care of yourself in all areas, while healing. Even resting is no fun because the pain can get to you.
Feeling overwhelmed, talk it out on here. I was surprised that so many caregivers have broken a bone. We could start a club.
We care.
Oh, I just read about hubs stepping on your foot.
Use the crutches, point one at him, and shove if he gets too close. Finally, a good use for crutches.
Ouch.
I need to maybe stay away from my hubs for a while too. Twice now he's stepped on my injured foot. So far, not the broken part but give him time.
I'm so mad at him right now I can't tell you. I mean how hard is it to be careful around someone with a fractured foot? I told him to just give me some space. Keep at least a foot between me and your biga** stomping feet. One more time and I'm going to book myself into a hotel for the next four weeks.
i hope you don’t feel like that, gershun.
your foot will get better!! find out if the boot is a good idea…i think doctors probably have mixed feelings about using a boot vs. not using a boot.
the thing is, using a boot can weaken the rest of the foot/ankle, because it’s totally immobile. similarly, for broken ribs (without punctured lung), doctors used to wrap up the rib cage. years later, doctors started advocating against wrapping: just leave the rib cage alone, natural, let it heal.
it’s important nothing else bumps into your left foot to hurt it. but sometimes a boot (keeping the foot totally immobile) can have negative side-effects — sometimes no boot, natural healing, using crutches but leaving the foot in the open air is better.
but your doctor knows best of course, and you. i’m just saying, sometimes no boot is better.
feel better soon! :)
“Toxic people will slowly kill you. They kill your positive spirit and play with your mind and emotions.”
“Don’t invest too much time or effort with toxic people. They don’t deserve your mental energy.”
“The idea is simple, stay a light year away from people who make you feel less about yourself.”
I should have shown my poor old feet more appreciation cause I sure am missing my left one.
