I've sent Pam a detailed non-private message about my (extensive) experience with turmeric. Anyone really interested can read it on her profile.

I use turmeric a bit, Pamz. It helps reduce pain associated with inflammation. I make different loose turmeric teas from Vahdam. I agree that it won't hurt to take some, but I wonder about the potency of gummies and if there's enough in them to make a difference for you -- it should be 1,000 mg/day, according to Google.

A coworker introduced me to making little 1/4-inch balls of turmeric: wet your fingers, roll the powder into a ball, then you have pre-made daily doses.

I thought that was an ingenious approach to forming a daily dose from loose powders so that you can store them ahead of time in little Tupperware in your frig and pop one in your mouth in the morning. You must take them with a lot of liquid if anyone wants to try that route. Imagine trying to choke down a little ball of powder on its own. It reminds me of "the cinnamon challenge." lol

For brain fog, I take Ginkgo Biloba daily. Cardio exercise helps my brain fog, too.

Pam what is the cause/dx for the pain and brain fog? I get pain and brain fog from being low thyroid and also from CFS/FM. Obviously the solutions are different.

Pamzi, turmeric is an anti inflammatory. It should be taken with black pepper to be most effective. I, unfortunately, am allergic, however, I did notice a reduction in pain, just a massive allergy headache. :-(

Tart Cherry is really good for pain too, in case turmeric doesn't do the job completely.

Mushrooms are the best for brain fog.

Off the wall question here, but I know we have a lot of members who use herbs, oils and such, As do I for some things, so my mind is open here, but I get burnt out by all the commercials on TV touting miracle cures. BUT,, I just bought some turmeric gummies to help with my pain "and brain fog". I figured I could try them for a month and at least see if they help. Anyone else on here try these things? I have read a few articles and they seem harmless if they don;t work.

BOJ,
You know that you could ask us for ideas to make your decision.
Then you would get asked tons of personal questions and you might have to defend yourself.
Then, you would get so many different opinions, it might confuse you.
Then people would start disagreements and fight between each other.
Then people would take sides, and divide into what people have called 'cliques'.

So, just offering, if you need support.

I received this advice about decisions years ago:
You have options. Always at least 3 options.
Yes
No
Or defer your decision to another time.

Or, if you need another joke, I volunteer to look one up for you.

Apparently, the Super Power conversation went over like a lead balloon.
I am thinking that caregivers are very humble personality-wise, and do not want to self-disclose what they might be good at.

Like giving ourselves a pat on the back, we are reluctant. Many are so alone, there is no one to acknowledge the daily activities done for the sake of others.

It's okay, I understand.

Thank you Canada for sending help in the way of two Super Scoopers to Southern California. They arrived yesterday, and have been put into service today, fighting the huge fire in Castaic today 9/1.

Yes, I know the facts, that they are rented and very expensive, but without Canada's help, there would be much less hope. So, I am going to take encouragement and hope anywhere I can find it.

Watching these huge planes skip over the water in Castaic Lake to load, then fly their mission is awesome.

So thank you Canada, and the Canadian people! 💖

No worries, in this context, a Super Power is not a political statement, and not a powerful country.

Saying you have a super power is just telling us what you are good at, what you are known for. Some have humility as their Super Power, so those caregivers may not want to mention themselves. In that case, please mention someone you know that has a Super Power!

Try it, maybe you will have some fun.

When caregivers wake up and come here on Monday morning, the question is:

What is your Super Power as a caregiver.
