Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
Morrocan Oil is actually the same as Argan Oil, from Morroco!
Just started using the shampoo, because dH wanted some without Sulfates.
But I have had a spray can of Argan Oil, and love how it conditions my hair. But dH cannot stand the smell, and it may not be good for Tweety. I had it outside for that reason, and was going to get rid of it. One day there were flies near my car, and I grabbed the can of spray. They might not have died, but they dispersed the area quickly. Just the other day, I took the spray can out at dusk and sprayed all around, there were no mosquitos biting me.
This stuff has a lot of uses, including does nice things to hair. Maybe it will prevent Covid, and I could call it Covid-Spray.
I love your pampering tips! I am jealous of your spa outings. I am so glad that you pamper yourself. You care for others at the hospital and it’s delightful to see that you take time out to pamper yourself from time to time. I love when you post about your outings, massages, etc. Your daughter sounds so sweet and very much like my youngest daughter who is a diva! They keep up with the latest trends! Don’t they?
"Have you noticed that your new broom is square and not rounded like on the product picture, also these connecting pieces look awfully small?
Don't despair! This is the case because you are one of the lucky customers to receive our completely overhauled and improved Broom and Dustpan Set 2.0!"
"The most exciting improvements include the new broom head with 4 rows of bristles, the poles with stronger connections and the new dustpan lip to make sweeping up small dust easy and fast."
NO, NO NO NO NO NO!
Calling it Covid-broom.
In the 70's, the hairdresser was using Olive Oil.
My hair needs a good conditioning.
Calling it Covid-hair.
Have you tried rubbing a fabric softener dryer sheet lightly into your hair (not scalp)?
Then it does not fly away.
There are other products for static in hair.
This year, they have been putting out many fires in under 30 minutes!
My dH gets his hair cut for free by me. Mine is growing below my shoulders, but is okay for now. I wear it, but really dislike a ponytail on me.
Pammzi, what kind of oil?
I told him that it may actually be harder to get then as mass clinics are closing by Sept and his reply was that it doesn't matter if he gets it, it's nothing anyway. I just don't know how to talk to this kid😬.
(and yeah I know he's not a kid, but).
I agree that it doesn’t take long to cut short hair.
Totally agree! Yeah. my stylist is reasonably priced too. $45 for women and $25 for men. My daughter was also a waitress in high school and college. It is their paycheck! My daughter switched to bartender in college and cleaned up on the tips, especially for the LSU football season!
Want to hear something funny? One of her coworkers told their boss at the bar that she couldn’t work on a particular night because she had an emergency for that upcoming night! What??? How do you know about an upcoming emergency ahead of time? Then the girl posted a pic of herself partying with friends at the football game. Crazy huh? Wait, it gets better! My daughter was asked to cover her shift when she was supposed to be off and the girl didn’t get fired! My daughter wasn’t planning on attending that game, but still. I call that. ‘young and stupid’ days!
I know that my cut took about 15 minutes (maybe a little less) and it came to $23.50 plus a $5 tip, which is more generous than my usual because those women haven't been able to work for months.
Does it count that I need to schedule an appointment with my stylist? LOL
My husband is a perfectionist when it comes to his hair! He NEVER looks like he needs a haircut. Me, on the other hand, oh gosh, I usually wait until I can’t stand it anymore! Not always, but sometimes my hairstylist says, “Boy, you REALLY need a haircut! I think that they should send out reminders!
Don’t you hate that men can get their haircut so much cheaper? I wear a short pixie. My husband has short hair. What’s the difference? LOL
Plus, I throw in a big tip! Always have and always will tip fairly. I can’t stand when people don’t tip. I stopped eating out with certain people because they are CHEAP! I end up tipping their share because first of all, it’s embarrassing. Secondly, it’s not fair to the server. Their tips are their livelihood.
I have an angled Bob that looks great right after I blow dry it. Then I move and it goes everywhere. 👱♀️
I just saw something cute about a woman and her cats. Her cat stole items from the neighbors. LOL She decided of hang all of the things that her cat stole from clips, strung on a clothesline, so her neighbors could claim them. She put a sign next to it saying that her cat was a thief!
My brother once had a dog that stole from his neighbors. He would bring home mops and brooms. One time he brought home a baby blanket. My brother said that the young mother was not happy with his dog!
You really did get things done!
Congrats about the cats, way to go!
In the the 70's there were some wildly costumed bands (Kiss lol) and in the 80's the androgynous look for men was in, all that permed hair and impeccable grooming - you can't blame us for missing the nuances. What I've never understood is all those women fawning over Liberace!
I think we did, actually. Just weren't particularly bothered one way or the other, and he hadn't come out at the time.
In regards to music, our Jazz fest line up is fantastic as usual! We really do have a top notch, world class festival here in New Orleans. It seems strange that it will be held this fall. It’s always been held in the Spring. Of course, it was canceled in the spring due to Covid but has been scheduled to occur in the fall. Lots of our usual local musicians will play along with national acts. I am excited!
I was at the very first Jazz fest at the Fairgrounds. It was a high school field trip. Tickets were only $5.00! Some people feel tickets are high now but I feel it’s a good value for a full day of extraordinary music, food and art vendors.
I am thrilled that our city is slowly opening back up again. We rely on tourism. It’s beginning to feel like home again here in New Orleans.
One of my favorite festivals here is Greek fest. I adore Greek food. The festival has authentic Greek food and music! It’s fun being Greek for a weekend!
Yes, what were we thinking indeed.
