Mom's deterioration has greatly accelerated. she's lost her executive function. aid caught her pouring nail polish into her water bottle, clogging up the toilet with an unknown object that we need to call the plumber on and we routinely have to intercept her before she attempts to go down the stairs.
What this all means is that the balance between freedom and enrichment and the need for safety have greatly changed. Anytime she can't be totally watched she must be put to bed. She can't be trusted as she'll do something and now know why
Remember that when it is no longer safe for her in the home, without someone watching over her every second, she is probably better off in a care home.
Or, just be prepared for the unexpected to happen.
If she lived in a memory care facility, she’d have 24/7 supervision, would be able to move around and thus preserve her mobility longer, and would have activities and socialization.
Time to rethink this! Sometimes home care is not the best care. I wish you peace in your heart as you contemplate what happens next.
In most cases however(unless it's unpaid family members), the cost of facility care is much less expensive.
