He has had a wound in his leg and it's swollen
I haven't been to see him since he got out of the hospital about 7 months ago I said I will not set foot in that disgusting house
He was ok with that for about 6 months and never contacted me(what a surprise not)
and then a few weeks later an urgent care person said he needs to go to the hospital because he needs more care for his leg
anyway I have only seen him once we have a meeting tomorrow with some caseworkers or idk who
my sister is going to be on the call from wherever her lair is
none of these people give two craps about me I am going to because of pure curiosity but then again I shouldn't go

Find Care & Housing
JoAnn.......the sister is NOT POA and she's said that many times. Nobody has POA for dad.

Tell the Social Worker that the POA will not talk to you. Could they please call her and get permission to place him. I would take the first place that will except him. If she does not help them, then they need to call APS and get them involved. Keep saying unsafe discharge. APS can have the State take over his care. Make everyone understand you are not the go to person. Sis is. Your sorry, but you cannot be involved with this man. Sis needs to step up to the plate or the State needs to take over.

Medicare will no longer pay because it may have found he can't be helped. He is as far as the rehab can take him. They only treat for what he was in the hospital for, they don't treat for pre-existing problems. Best thing for him would be LTC. If they will take you saying "place him" then do it and again take what is available. Make sure they have Sis's phone# and ask that they lose yours. If Sis won't do her job, then the state needs to step in. Stand by your guns and say that you will not care for him and why.

Remember, Dad got himself into this mess. Not you or your sister, she maybe the smart one by staying away. Please allow the State to take over his care. Then you can completely step away.

Mary, let the rehab place deal with him. They can send him to another place or send him home in a medical transport or he can get himself home in an uber or taxi. Not your business at all.

Hi Joanne

My sister refuses to talk to me and she has me blocked I'll see what I can do.

He needs more rehab but Medicare cut him off

I was crying at the meeting and he didn't even care.
.
The rehab place is recommending one facility but I am assuming they have an arrangement with them.

He'll probably need to be out by Wednesday or Thursday this is such a mess.

I was very low contact I guess I still could be but idk anymore

Neither one of us is POA and he doesn't want to deal with arranging that

Its time for dear Sis to get involved. He can't return home, its unsafe. One because its filthy, two because there is no one to care for him properly. He needs to go straight from rehab to LTC. No money, then Medicaid needs to be applied for. If Sis does not want to be involved, she needs to revoke her POA and allow the State to take over his care. Then he will have a State guardian that will handle everything.
