I apologize if I’ve asked this question already. My mother has Alzheimer’s and has been in memory care for fifteen months.
She really dislikes having her teeth brushed. I don’t think the aides where she lives fight her on it because she becomes really disagreeable.
Any insights on how to make my mom less resistant to brushing her teeth.

I had an aide tell me one time that Mom did not brush her teeth. I asked if she put the toothpaste on the brush and handed it to her...I got that look like a deer caught in headlights.

There are little sponges on sticks that have toothpaste in them. As aides if they have tried them.

Have you tried getting her to brush them when you're there, and if so how does that go? And have you tried just brushing them yourself when you come to visit?
Even if you just visit once week, brushing her teeth once a week is better than not at all don't you think?

There were times towards the end of my late husbands life when I had to brush his teeth when he was bedridden in our living room. You have to do what you have to do.
