I do not have heating and cooling in my home where can I get help?

Department of social services in your state and county if you are in the USA. I only know my state of NYS HEAP applications open November 2, 2026.

Just want to say, you could be living in an apartment and need help with utilities. Heat is usually provided but not electric which would run an A/C. Actually, gas and oil need electric to run their fans.

Call your utility companies. My nephew was able to get $500 a year towards electric. Call Office of the Aging in your County and see what resourses are availabe to you. County Social Services too.

Call your electric or gas provider. (The company you pay your bill to). Many of them offer assistance or could refer you to an assistance program.
My Electric provider solicits donations from their customers to help people in need.

Maybe it's time to consider that if you can't afford basic things in order to stay in your home, it may make more sense to sell your home and move to subsidized housing before you are overwhelmed by expenses.

Aging Care does not help with these things, but you can call 211 to see if there is any help in your area, or your local Senior Services and Area Agency on Aging.
