He is feeding the dog people food constantly. Shes getting sick and he denies feeding her, even when caught in the act. Any recommendations?

Find Care & Housing
The dog will die a painful death from pancreatitis or something else. Have a heart and re-home that dog. You won’t be able to get him to stop.

Get rid of the dog.
You can't stop the dementia behaviors of someone with dementia.

You can't reason with them. And they don't remember what happened earlier.

Can someone else foster the dog for now? You could let him continue and the dog will be sick, and could die.

Once the dog dies from this poor diet, the problem is solved. Give it a nice backyard funeral, grieve with the owner, and refuse to discuss it anymore. No recriminations allowed, no mention of dog's name; if he asks about the dog, you don't know what happened.

My grandmother used to give their dogs candy all the time. She was asked not to do it, but she didn't comply. Grandmother died before the dogs did.

He is 87 y/o uncle. Diagnosed with Alz & parkinsons. My 88 y/o aunt is his primary caregiver. Uncle is inseparable from his dog. As soon as my aunt turns her back, he feeds the dog cheese stix, cookies, last bites of lunch/dinner, etc. When auntie catches him in the act...he insists "Im not feeding the dog!" Dog follows him everywhere since she has learned there is yummy people food along the way. We know not to argue, but we are hesitant to put a lock on the fridge.

Out a lock on the fridge. The dog probably already has diabetes

You cannot reason with someone with dementia. His brain is broken.

Folks with dementia cannot be reasoned with or trained to stop doing anything. It's up to YOU to remove the dog from his presence.

Is "him" living with you?
Is the dog yours or his?
If you, dog and "him" all live together you have to crate the dog while you are not right there to monitor what is going on.
If "him" is living alone...He shouldn't be....the dog needs to be removed. or another arrangement must be made to keep the dog safe. And if "him" is living alone a caregiver 24/7 would solve 2 problems.

“Him” and the dog must be separated and not live in the same place. It’s cruel to make a dog get sick because a failing mind can no longer understand the consequences of over feeding

"He" is not fit to have a dog. Some modern food is so processed it will seriously harm the animal. Sorry but it needs rehoming, is it getting veterinary treatment when it is sick ?
