Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. James, I just want to say that it is so self-aware of you to reach out for help. Many of this us on this forum are or were were caregivers or CNAs. We are seniors ourselves, many of us and also have had parents that had special needs. CNAs or caregivers can come to your house but that will normally be out of pocket. Please talk to those close to you about what you think your needs may be. Do you need some help with housekeeping and meals? Do you need help with personal care and exercising? Think about all your needs and listen to other people who have either used in-home care or eventually a facility.
James, How much care will cost YOU (not including any Medicare contribution) depends on what care you want, what time of day, for how long, which provider, and WHERE you are.There is no real alternative to working out your own needs (or preferences), and then phoning local agencies to ask for quotes.
No James, Medicare is health insurance. It will cover HOME HEALTH CARE depending on your ability to leave home unassisted. It doesn’t cover HOME CARE which you posted under. HHC through Medicare is when you need skilled nursing support and usually amounts to a wound care visit or help with weekly over-site of how you are managing. The nurse is usually only with you around an hour a week. They would do vital checks and set up your med planner. If you first qualify for that then you could possibly also receive physical therapy or occupational therapy as needed and an aide to assist you with baths a couple of times a week. This service is primarily to keep you from having to go out to the doctor for things that can be done in your home and help you live longer at home.
This HHC is covered by original Medicare with Part B. If you are on an advantage plan you would need to check as they are all different depending on your region, state, etc.
I had this service for my relatives when they qualified. Additionally I hired an aide for Home Care to help with food, housecleaning, etc. A good housekeeper can make your world a better place. Each persons needs are different so it’s really hard to help without more information.
If you are a veteran there is a program called aid and attendance that you might qualify for.
Otherwise you can utilize a home care service or check on Care.com or a local to you website where individuals post advertising their services. Be careful who you hire. Use help from neighbors or friends or family to help you choose wisely. When we are physically failing, we are vulnerable.
