Has no sense of concern about it. Doesn't realize she's sleeping in a dirty bed - doesn't seem to faze her.

What about pads to place on her bed? Wouldn’t that help?

Probably, but it wouldn’t stop her from rolling around in it. Maybe big meal at noon so the “deed would be done” by bedtime? She needs to wear Depends but she’d probably rip them off. A back opening sleep suit might help, but it would be difficult to convince her. Maybe a frank talk with her doctor?

If she must live at home vs. in a Memory Care community, I'd dress her in a sleep suit (Go to Amazon.com and search Alzheimer's sleep suit) and an overnight Depends each night before bed. She will likely get used to it. She can't be rolling around in feces; it's not safe or sanitary, obviously. She's not going to have any 'sense' or 'concern' about much of anything with dementia......it's the nature of the beast, I'm afraid.

Good luck!

Thanks for your thoughts. We have tried AL, beautifully set up in a high end situation in Texas. Her daughter visited her every couple of days, outings etc. But she decided Texas heat was too much for her, and was on the phone every day to one of us (3 sons and me her sister) crying and begging to come back to Canada. She refused to live with any of her sons. My hubby and I were about to retire and buy a home by the sea in Nova Scotia. It seemed our only option to bring her with us. She's settled and seems content but I'm struggling with aspects of caregiving I know will only get worse. So l'll look for local professional help too. She's is not without money and her family is totally supportive of whatever she needs. She's very fortunate in many ways for sure.

It bothers you more than her

Could it be that she is going to bed with a soiled bottom and it gets smeared in the sheets?
