I would like to visit with friends upon occasion without spouses, but my husband cannot be left alone. He has all his ADLs but has flooded the bathroom because he forgot to turn off the faucet and used the little oven with a paper towel instead of the microwave. I do not need something extensive like respite care, just a few hours every couple of months. I do not have any relatives nearby who could do this. Any suggestions?
I see it mentioned all the time now, and would be curious how it goes with them. So many others have minimums in terms of days and hours and times. But I think Care.com doesn't.
Do let us know, Kathleen, if you try and like them (or don't). And best of luck.
C on A will contact an agency in your area and you can schedule when you need them to come.
Best wishes to you and your husband.
Best of luck finding someone your husband gets along with and that they form a relationship.
You can contact an agency and ask about occasional days that you might hire someone.
If there is a Senior Network in your town they may have Volunteers that would sit with him. (In my town you register and they assess the needs and when you need a Volunteer you generally need to give them 24-48 hours notice)
Your local Senior Center may have something like that available.
And there are places like Care.com where you hire, I think you have to pay a fee or become a member.
