He smokes a lot, he forgets that he was smoking and lights cigarette after another in seconds. He doesn't like water, sometimes he drinks Pepsi or juice. It is hard to give him specific medicines for his case as he has heart problem.

I would suggest that he have his magnesium RBC run at the doctor, craving for chocolate is a sign of low magnesium.

Nadia, the same thing happened to my Mom when she had a serious fall. She immediately went into full scale dementia. Same had happened to another writer on this forum.

As for the food part, I believe elders and younger people who have brain injuries they lose their sense of taste except for very sweet items, thus the chocolate. Of course your brother's smoking does help as that deadens the taste buds, too.

Regarding the cigarettes, is he still able to go out and drive? If he can't drive, then who is buying the cigarettes for him? That has to stop, as matches and dementia are a real bad mix.
