Find Care & Housing
Majority of grown children do not get paid for taking care of their parents.... unless the parent can pay them from their own retirement fund. If your Dad can pay you, you would need to set up an employment agreement, and pay payroll taxes.

Or you can check with the Veteran Administrations to see what programs are available to help your Dad. And you can check to see if your Dad could be accepted into Medicaid.... in some States [each State has their own programs] you could be paid, but it would be minimum wage for a few hours each week.

If your father is a Veteran there are programs that will allow you to get paid while you are caring for him.
If this is the case contact the VA and ask about the VIP program.
The veteran is evaluated as to how much care he requires, a budget is set and you hire caregivers and pay them from that budget. A spouse can not get paid but an adult child can. As long as you are 18 or older.

Marlee, sorry I never heard of social security paying for a person to take care of their parent. Usually benefits come after a person has passed if one is a spouse or a child under a certain age.

Sadly there are a lot of myths floating around saying people can be paid :(
