I am her daughter and care giver and I need a occasional break.

My mother lives in my home and I provide all of her care. All of her vital health signs are very good, but she is not able to walk and gets around very well in her electric scooter. I would look into respite care for her. I bet others here will know more about it than I do. There are places that will be able to assist with her care in their home or facility for these times that you need time on your own. It's such a smart thing for you to do. This will ensure that you stay rested and fresh. Caregivers often deny themselves the care they need for themselves.

Check into the assisted living facilities in your area. Some do offer short term respite care. The place my mom lived in last offered such a service that was anywhere from a few days to a couple of months. My mom was a full-time resident there so I have no idea the cost of short term care. It would certainly be worth looking into for your sanity. I understand how hard it can get caring for a parent full-time at home. Been there, done that.

Bern, check the caregiver agencies as they usually have part-time caregivers.

The Agency I use you can hire someone for 4 hours a day. And it doesn't need to be every day.
