My mom LOVES her TV, has it on literally all day, but as her cognition declines, she's been struggling to change channels and when I call to help it seems like she's just leaving it on the same news channel all the time. Not ideal.
I wish I could just change channels for her ... like using an app to control the TV or something?
I can't believe nothing like this exists ... has anyone seen anything that does this?
I'm don't know about remote channel changing, but there is an Alexa app for your phone, and it might be able to do it. Just google it and see.
You press the "microphone" icon and say what you want.
If you are in the same room you can use the remote yourself.
I will often find a show I want to watch that is on later in the day and I will click "info" and I can toggle to the one that says "remind" and at that time the screen will have a box that will show the name of the show, you press OK and the channel will be changed to that show.
For my Husband I just left the station on that he liked watching, it was not a news show.
If she is content just watching the same channel put it on a station that is "kind to the mind" and leave it on. HGTV, the Food Network, Hallmark, PBS are all good options. Or go the other end and find the Music stations. (my Husband would have hated those though!)

Hope this helps!
Good luck!
