give him an adequate shot of insulin in the am.
let him eat whatever he wants for about an hour then firehose him in the back yard.
loved ones / carers with a little imagination can keep him supplied with healthy and tasty meal and snack items.
thats why i made the chicken , vegs, cheese stuffed bread rolls a lot. a dozen of them can be refrigerated and renuked for 3 - 4 days.
shared some with a doc one time. he informed me that the roll had every ingredient of a good, healthy meal. no dirty dishes either. bread sheetpans are left in the fridg, dont even have to wash them. my mom thrived on them -- or they killed her, the autopsy results arent released yet.
im gonna bake some anyway, right damn now.

Diabetes in advanced stages can damage the liver and kidneys. As toxins build up, the patient is in a demented state and refuse to bathe. The other possibility is that he is to weak to get in and out of the tub without falling. Can son put a tub rail on and get dad a shower chair? Is there a hand held shower? Does dad need a housekeeper to cook meals and do laundry? Would the MD write an order for visiting nurses/ physical therapists/occupational therapists who will come to the house and evaluate him?

Captain who answered on 12-22, thank you so much for the grin I got when reading your response. Actually got a belly laugh, much needed perspective.
