Not sure how you would do this. Have you spoken with anyone who does sleep studies on people.

How long has his sleep schedule been in reverse?

If your person is sundowning then unfortunately that's very difficult to treat, even keeping them up and active during the day might just result in them being up 24 hours or more until the crash. Try to find a specialist doctor (gerontologist, neurologist, ?) who is willing to experiment with medications, and you may need to consider hiring someone to be with him at night so you can sleep.

Has he been prescribed any medications to help with sleeping?
Many have tried Melatonin and if that is something you want to try just check with the doctor or pharmacist to make sure that it is not going to be a problem with any other medications he is on. And inform the doctor that this has been added and the dose that you are giving him. The fact that it is a OTC or classified as a supplement it should still be noted in his medical record.
