The people we hired were certified and had a business license. They advertised as licensed, insured and bonded. We just found out that they aren’t. We thought mom would be safer at home. Their certifications lapsed and they never renewed their business license. One of them sent my sister a text saying she had some things that were my mom’s that my mom had “given” to her because my mom didn’t want me or my sister to have them. My sister sent me the text. I went to show our Elder Attorney and the message was gone. I told my sister and her texts were also missing. The Attorney told me to go to the police. Mind you, we have recently discovered that anything of value is missing from my mom’s house. We have filed a police report and they will be checking our phones for indications of hacking. The only messages hacked were from the one UN-CNA. How do I go about pressing charges for unethical behavior of a seasoned caregiver that works for a non medical in home care company that doesn’t have a license? This kind of business is not covered or governed by the State of AL.
