Stephen, does your facility have other choices in care? It sounds like time for ALF to me? Have you explored that now that independent living is too difficult?

Are you alone with no family? I recommend that you hire a life care manager. This is a professional who will help oversee your future trajectory. Perhaps you will soon need assisted living. If you have financial stability, you might consider life care estates where you buy in to an apartment / home and you get moved within the community with appropriate care and safely.

Please provide more information, like your age, what state you live in, what specific health issues to you have, do you have any family local to you, do you have a PoA, etc.

Basically you can call your county's social services to see if you qualify for help and transportation. Also call your local Area Agency on Aging for resources.

Be sure to have your legal ducks in a row for if/when the day comes you are no longer able to make decisions in your own best interests.

Sounds like it's time to get a social worker involved in finding you the appropriate assisted living facility.
You can contact your local Area Agency on Aging and Senior Services to help you.
I wish you well in getting into the right facility.
