Relwood, everyone no matter at what age should have a medical Powe of Attorney and financial POA, plus a Will, and any other legal document in case something happens to you in the future. If one waits until there is an emergency, you might not be able to appoint someone.

Hopefully whomever you are caring for has current legal documents.
