My husband has Parkinson's and is now in a wheelchair. We live in a bi-level home. He can still go up and down steps although he does not walk anymore. He is beginning to get more unstable on the steps and it gets a little scary as he gets to the top of the stairs to get on the deck where we enter the house. We are in the process of getting quotes or estimates for installation of an outdoor platform lift. Just wondering if there might be some financial help available.

If it weren't for the pandemic, you might be able to get some assistance from your community. Mine used to, and still may, get HUD grants for these kinds of needs.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit that helps, but again, I don't know how active it is at this time.

Is your husband a Veteran? If so, is he getting benefits? Again, if so, contact the social worker for his team and ask about this.

He isn't a veteran. I have seen links to veteran agencies but won't help us. Thank you for the suggestions.

I don't think Medicare pays for this. You could try your County disability dept and see if they can help.

I’ve done extensive research on finding help for my disabled husband. We always were disqualified for income overages, once $100 over the limit. I discovered that there was no real help available for anyone except Veterans. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. At one point, our “case” was handed to a branch of Adult Protective Services and we wound up with our local police coming to do a “well check” even though there was no earthly reason for it. In the end, when I finally threw in the towel, we got absolutely nothing. There are a few places you can check. I’m going to give it one more chance and ask a local Durable Medical Equipment Company if they know of any organization that can help. You can also try asking your doctor if they think a doctor’s order might work. Good luck. I hope your results are better than mine.
